Why do we love Tybee Island?

A quite and not so crowded beach, Tybee Island is one of our favorite places to visit during the summer.
It has that "small town feel" but enough to do that you don't get bored.

Just 15 minutes to Savannah, day trips during the week can include a huge variety of shopping and site seeing.

Great little restaurants and easy beach access make it a beach goers haven.

We have found that Monday through Friday is the best time to visit. The weekends, like all beaches get a little heavy with local visiting traffic and can attract a "louder" crowd. Arriving on a Sunday afternoon and leaving on Friday works well with us.     

Visit the Fort...

Make sure you take the time to visit Fort Pulaski. Even if you are not a "history buff" this is a simple tour / walk through that can be done in about an hour if you are in a rush. Or take your time and spend all afternoon. My 10 year son REALLY enjoyed it. Walk on the fort's walls and see the view that the gunners had.

	The Light House A cool stop at the north end of the island. Make sure you have a map. A GPS unit really helps on beach islands because of all the little streets.
	More Beach Than People... Yes it's true. Every time we have been there, again weekdays not weekends, there has been more beach than people which is unusual these days for beaches.
